It was another beautiful “fall” day in Minnesota last Saturday when riders set out to complete our “season ending” 100k tour around the metro area (thanks to the warm weather there are a few more rides on the schedule this year). The leaves were peaking and the weather in the 70’s…it could not have been a better day for a ride if I had planned it. We had 20 riders, several new ones at that, so the company and conversation was lively as we cruised the many parkways and bike trails of the twin cities metro area. We had a midpoint stop at Rustica Bakery where the pastries were delicious and the coffee took forever, but was worth it. And we finished at one of our long-time member’s home where he fired up the backyard brick oven pizza oven and whipped us up some of the best pies in town. The ride was wonderful way to wind down another great Rando season; communing over bikes, pizza and beer. There isn’t much better than that. We also celebrated our Board President’s birthday, Chris Carlson, with back pocket apple crisp and vanilla ice cream, if you haven’t tried it, I highly recommend. Thank you to everyone who came out to ride and to Andy Tetmeyer for hosting the post-ride festivities. It was a truly memorable day.
