Day one of this route still starts from the Country Inn & Suites in Woodbury and heads over into Wisconsin and up the St. Croix river valley. We'll go through Hudson, Somerset, St. Croix Falls, and Grantsburg, before heading over to Minnesota with a stop in Hinckley before heading south along Highway 61. There is a longer stretch (about 50 miles) with no services to be aware of between Granstburg and Hinckey, so best to stock up with extra supplies in Grantsburg before you head out. Controls are a variety of c-stores/gas stations per usual, but there are plenty of local restaurants, bars and coffee shops to stop at if you have a more discerning pallet. Day one will end back at the hotel in Woodbury so you can have a short rest before heading out onto the second leg of the journey.
Day two we will head south towards Hastings, where we will cross into Wisconsin again and head west through River Falls, Spring Valley and Downsville. Then the route turns north to Menomonie, and finally back east just south of I94 stopping in Baldwin, cruising through Hudson and ending back at the hotel.
Riders are responsible for booking their own room at the hotel. There is a pool and hot tub too, so consider staying Sunday night for a little R&R after the ride.
Electronic Ride Waiver
We have worked with RUSA on an electronic ride waiver that we are now rolling out for all of our rides. This will replace our paper waivers at the start. We will still bring some as a backup. You can click here to go to the MN Randonneurs SmartWaiver page. Please fill out the form there with all the requested information. Once you click submit, an email with a download link of the electronic waiver will be sent to you, to the Minnesota RBA (Norman Ehrentreich), and to the RUSA insurance account. After that, you will be sent back to a landing page on the mnrando.org site that you can close.
I split the route into two, so hopefully it will be easier for GPS units to handle.
