This is the third time we will be running this Team Dart with start and finish at the RBA's house in Shoreview. Team panning has started in earnest, so come back often to check on progress. Let me know whether you'd be willing to lead a team, just want to join a team, prefer road or gravel, fast or slow (kind of moot - we plan to arrive as close as possible to 4pm. Perhaps a faster team may have an additional stop).

The Dart 120 team ride consists of several teams, each team (between 3 and 5 riders) with their own route, leaving the start location at the same time, returning 120k and 8 hours later to celebrate with the whole group. The ride starts at 8am at 904 Meadow Ave, Shoreview and finishes at 4pm at the same location. Come a bit early of you want to chat or have some coffee. Please use side street parking in the neighborhood. The house will be open for bathroom access and pre- and post ride socializing. There will be a pool party & BBQ afterwards. Last year, we had with brats & sauerkraut, German potato salad (homemade by the RBA himself), hotdogs, burgers, salad, watermelon, and cold drinks. As of Sunday, it looks like we will be at the tailwind of the heatwave this coming Saturday, but perhaps the foreasted 92F will make the pool at welcoming post-ride cool down.

Below is a first stab at teams: I created so far four teams with three team members to give us room for additioal sign-up before me need to form a new team. If some of the riders don't show up/unregister due to heat, we will re-arrange on ride day to make sure each team has the minimum number of riders (3 riders need to finish together). Check back often this week as the team composition and possible routes may stiull change.

  • Each Dart team is limited to a maximum of five members and a minimum of three members."Each team is to design its own route of at least 120 km.
  • A successful Dart Populaire ride counts as the official 120 km in RUSA distance awards, even if a longer distance was covered in the event time period. It counts as credit towards the P-12 award
  • At least 25 km must have been ridden within the last two hours of the event.
  • At least 3 team members must legally complete the team's course and arrive at the finish together.
  • All riders arriving with this group who have legally completed the course receive credit. Riders arriving before or after will not, even if they've legally completed their team's course.

The idea behind the dart is to ride as a group, to emphasize cameraderie by encouraging one or two sit down meals along the course and for the different teams to arrive at close as possible to the 8 hours time limit. After arriving at 904 Meadow Ave in Shoreview, we'll have a pool party with BBQ and beverages. Come prepared for hopping into the pools or hottub if interested (changing location available).
